Anti-Intellectualism in American Christianity

Anti-Intellectualism: a resistance or hostility regarding the development or use of the mind's ability to reason carefully. Sometimes expressed as a distrust of education, philosophy, literature, or science. Sometimes excused as an emphasis on faith. Not only does it keep us from loving God with our whole beings, it hurts our efforts to share the gospel, leaves us poorly equipped for dealing with challenges to our faith, and forces us to rely on secular leadership in critical areas of our Christian lives.
